Catching's win was no shock as she had a phenomenal season - scoring 18.6 points a game and hauling in 8.6 rebounds plus becoming the first WNBA player to record 60 3-pointers and 80 steals in a single season.

Catchings was actually a 2001 draft pick but sat out all last season with a torn ACL.

Former UConn alums Sue Bird from the Storm and Swin Cash from the Shock finished second and third in the voting.

Teasley started all 32 games for the Sparks, who had the WNBA's best regular season record. She averaged 6.4 points a game and 4.4 assists - and a 2.06 assist to turnover ratio, ninth in the WNBA.

Starting on a veteran team, Teasley was asked to do some different things than in college - they didn't need her points as much as they needed her to run the offense, specifically to distribute and push the ball, help keep the inside pressure off Lisa Leslie and to use her size to create mismatches.

Teasley may have come in fourth but she's got a chance to win something none of the three people in front of her can - a WNBA title. The Sparks swept Sue Bird and the Storm in the opening round of the playoffs and thanks to a Utah Starzz upset of the Comets, face the Starzz in the Western conference finals starting Thursday night on ESPN2 at 10 p.m.
